The Department of Physical Education was established at Bangladesh Agricultural University,

Mymensingh, in 1962, with the motto “Healthy Body, Beautiful Mind.” In addition to academic

studies, physical exercise and sports activities are essential for the physical fitness and mental

development of BAU students. Since its inception, the Department of Physical Education has been

organizing physical exercise and sports activities for students.

Through these activities, the department indirectly contributes to developing skilled and

hardworking agriculturists, thereby helping to build a healthy society and nation. Under the

supervision of the department, daily practice sessions for various sports and physical exercises are

conducted in two shifts every day (except Friday), from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and from 3:00 p.m.

to 9:00 p.m.

A gymnasium was established under the department on 5 October 1988, and the department has

recently added modern fitness equipment. The gymnasium and stadium facilities are used

separately by students, teachers, and officers of the university.
